Why Should We Replace Our Phone System?

Gepost in: Internet Information — @ 3:40 am

Many businesses buy a new phone system because they have been worn down over a period of time by poor, but repetitive arguments. Salespeople from different phone companies have warned them that their system is obsolete. Phone technicians tell them about the scarcity of parts and that they may not be able to support the system any longer. After hearing this refrain over and over, it starts to sound like the truth. Is it? Should a new phone system be purchased?

From the salesperson’s perspective, the answer is a resounding yes. They get paid to sell systems, not to talk to customers about keeping the old one going. Technicians don’t want to work on old systems. They may not have worked at their company long enough to have been trained on it. Perhaps they want to explore the more interesting, challenging features of a newer system. They may also want you to buy a new system to help their company thrive economically. In any case, there is nothing in these outlooks that you should share.

Your take on this should examine the features you want or need that aren’t available on your current system, the availability of replacement parts, the prospect of being able to get continued service for your system and your budget.

What features do you need that you can’t do on your current system? We’re not talking about want, just needs. We’re certainly not talking about whatever the current buzzwords are either. The rage for VOIP (Voice Over IP) is what phone system salespeople are touting today. I would wager that far less than one company in 100 has a real application for it. VOIP is not likely to save much money on phone calls for almost all companies and may be a technical nightmare to install. Unless you have mobile employees that need to have constant, integrated connectivity to the phone system, VOIP is unlikely to be a feature that should make you get a new system.

If your firm lacks voicemail on your current system, you have an application that could justify system replacement (you may be able to add it to your current equipment). If you are going to expand beyond the current capacity of your system, this is another good reason to enter the market. If you are about to move, the cost of cabling the new facility (a major phone system expense) is one you would have even if you reinstalled the system. This makes it a good time to look at a new product. If there are any other features you have to have, then go ahead and get some proposals.

Otherwise, there oughtn’t to be much to worry about. You can find refurbished equipment from many suppliers for virtually any system, even if the system went out of manufacture 15 years ago. This equipment is often of high quality and usually comes with a year warranty. You may be very pleased with the pricing as well.

As far as getting service, this is an issue you should be proactive about. Make sure you have copies of user guides as well as a programming and installation manual. Find out if there are other companies in your area that service your system. You may even wish to have phone numbers for individual technicians to contact them on the side, should your vendor ever say that they won’t work on your gear any longer.

Get the most out of your phone system for as long as it makes sense for your company to keep it.

Giving Deal Breakers the Break

Gepost in: Miscellany — @ 1:41 am

How do you get what you want out of dating without settling?

Are you one of the singles out there who are adamant about a persons weight, height, and or age? Are you rigid when it comes to a persons income, parental status, religious and or political preferences?

Dateless, you assume all the good men and women are taken?

How do you measure up in the deal breaker arena?

It’s not about lowering standards it’s about being realistic. Up your standards in the areas that matter and become a better person in the process.

Here are some common dating dilemmas and what you can do about them.

Weight Issues

Say you meet a man who has all the endearing qualities you like, there is major chemistry, and you are attracted to them but he is slightly over weight.

You can’t change a person but you can certainly motivate them.

What to do:

Suggest eating out less and start cooking healthy meals together. Most of your dates could consist of hiking, biking and other outdoor activities. Just taking a walk three days a week, and eating healthier food can do wonders for your health. The object is not to lose weight but to be as healthy as you can be. Weight loss is just a side effect.

It is a myth that once a person loses weight they will stray or you won’t like them once they are skinny. That is a good reason to focus on inside qualities instead of what is on the outside.

Height

Other things that can slide are height. If you are a tall women who likes men that are 6 foot and up, you can you date someone who is 5′10 and get the same effect as someone who is six foot? Height is irrelevant.

What to do:

Although it’s a woman’s nature to be attracted to tall men, you can skip wearing high heels once in awhile and focus on his other qualities especially if he is everything else you have ever dreamed of.

Age

Older women usually like men their age or older and men tend to be the opposite.

What to do:

Why not do a so called role reversal and date younger men. If men usually go for younger women they should try dating someone who is their own age or older! The outcomes can be pleasantly surprising.

Independence v. Cash Flow

You meet a fabulous girl who is everything you want but her income is below average. Generally men want women who are independent and don’t expect to lean on a man financially. Men are also led to believe that all women want money so they can be taken care of financially.

Not true.

The money factor has to do with level of commitment and readiness. When a man has his life in order and all his chess pieces are in play and it looks like he is winning the game, only then will he be more inclined for what he doesn’t possess yet. A queen.

Women sometimes bypass men who don’t have their pawns where the man would like them, or avoid men who are not playing the game of life in the first place.

Money is about remaining competitive in life. Not the be all, end all, surfire road to happiness.

When a man has the majority of his worries aside and the women of his dreams comes into his life, there is no excuse for not getting married if that is what he is looking for. Women know this. They don’t want to waste time with someone who will never be ready for marriage because they aren’t rich yet. Women certainly don’t have time for those who aren’t even ready to do what it takes to become financially stable! Impasse!

When all the financial worries of a man are minimized that means his chances of being locked and loaded are greater and that is why women seek men who have their finances taken care of.

Men are more predisposed about income but don’t want women who come to expect their man will save them financially.

Women should take responsibility of their finances and not think that someone is going to do it for them. Some debt is ok but if it interferes with your life it most likely will impact your partners life too.

Women should consider dating men who are at least ambitious if not financially well off. They might be going to back to school or are in between jobs or better yet starting their own business.

People might have roommates, especially if they are younger, but living situations change. You could end up as their only roommate in the future. In an extreme case your soul mate may be one of their current roommates!

What to do:

There is a difference between being cheap and being savvy. Cheap is uncreative and is a flat out “no way in hell ” that you can justify paying even if you yourself want an item badly enough.

Be aware of his or her time and when it comes to work or school. They may need to work a spare job on a Saturday night to come up with the phone bill! School can be expensive so book them when they are not in school or have study time.

Cook meals together or find lower priced restaurants. They will be relieved that you mentioned a matinée and snacks in the park compared to a hot new seafood restaurant and martini bar in the middle of downtown. Take the opportunity to use 2-for-1 coupons to try out a new restaurant. Look for yearly publications of coupon books in your area.

Nothing feels worse than to have someone doling out expensive dinners on you and you’ve no way monetarily to return the favor. Be sensitive to the times when they can’t go out. People are embarrassed to say the are flat out broke.

Eventuntually they may save up or make enough money to take you out to a nice treat and money will not be the focus, your happiness will be.

Opportunities In Hiding

Keep your mind open to possibilities because you never know where you’ll find the love of your life. Expand your dating chances by taking up low-risk candidates. If the two of you end up “just friends” they might introduce you to someone of interest who is a better match.

Don’t judge. You’d be surprised how men and more so women will try and set you up with somone they know if things don’t work out. Consider it a compliment that you are a great person and have someone looking out for you!

Be on your best behavior, be open and take them up on it!

Why Network Marketing Never Works for You

Gepost in: Online Marketing — @ 9:01 pm

Let me tell you this… if you always jump from one program to another just because you haven’t earned adequate money, then you will never succeed in any program. Believe me.

Building your own organization of downlines needs patience and persistence. This applies to any business. Most of the time, it takes at least 1 year to finally see the best results in your Network Marketing business.

That’s why so many fail to succeed in Network Marketing. They just don’t hang around long enough to see their success coming.

Here is what frequently happens. After several months of advertising, prospecting and training the result is still frustrating, so they decide to quit and find a more suitable program. Guess what, they won’t stay long in that new program too. It becomes a habit. Hopping from one program to another.

So please take my advice. If you decide to join a credible and solid Network Marketing program, never never quit until you succeed!

Keep promoting and make evaluations. Do some research. Do a lot of researches. What kind of advertising that works nowadays? What works today may not work well next year.

Be patient. People would gladly join under you if they know you well. Don’t be too pushy in prospecting, or they will run away from you.

Be persistent. Everyone has setbacks in their business. Don’t take rejections personally. You don’t need 1000 recruits under you. You just need a couple of those willing people who will run the business seriously. Your organization will grow rapidly from them.

Promote, Patience and Persistence will take you to the top.

The five CRITICAL things to do for your health and weight loss

Gepost in: Medical Resources — @ 11:00 pm

I’m often asked what is the best diet, or the best food
program, best exercise program and which single best book to
recommend to improve your health, fitness or weight loss.

The answer is that there is no best way to do it. There is
no best book, and there is no right way or wrong way to do it.

The 5 Critical things you must do to achieve your health are
    these

    1. Continue to learn about health, fitness, nutrition and
weight loss from a wide variety of sources

The single most important thing to do right from the start is
to take action and begin learning about health, followed very
closely by putting what you learn into practice. We are a
very diversified bunch of people and what works for you may
not work for the next person. You have to find what works for
you from a wide variety of sources, expand your knowledge and
accept no one thing as being the best for your health. Keep
reading, keep learning and keep what works for you and discard
    what doesn’t.

Knowledge isn’t power, but “knowledge in action is power!”

Some very simple things to keep in mind is that the body runs
on food and if you give it the best quality food, in whatever
manor that happens to be, then you’ll probably get some good
results in general. Keep the nutrition to a maximum by eating
as close to nature as possible, organic where possible and
eliminating processed foods and trans fats.

    2. Find a mentor.

Someone who’s been there, done that and that you can model .

I realized at quite an early age that if we can model someone
who’s been there and done that and gotten results, then you
can “cut to the chase” as it were to find out what works for
your health and weight loss – what doesn’t and in doing so get
    results faster.

Find a mentor, a role model for the things that you’re looking
for. If it’s weight loss or to improve your health, find
someone who’s walked in your footsteps and knows what you’re
going through. Model them. Do what they did, repeat their
process and contact them to ask what worked and what didn’t.
You can save yourself a lot of time and effort by doing what
    works and skipping what doesn’t.

    3. Apply the knowledge you learn about health on a daily
    basis

This is where the taking action part comes in. You must begin
to apply the knowledge you’ve gained from what you’ve read
about health or watched and by talking with people who’ve been
there before you. If you do not put it into practice then
you’ve become an information junkie and not someone who
follows through on their knowledge. You must begin to work
the principles you’ve learned on a daily basis and keep at it.
Without the trial and error, you get nowhere fast and won’t
truly know what works and what doesn’t.

    4. Repeat steps one, two and three

Remember, there is no right way or wrong way to lose weight,
improve your health or get what you want. You must continue
to learn and challenge what you’ve read. I’m told that what I
teach is wrong and I ask what were your results when you tried
it? Well, they didn’t try it and so I then ask “what right do
you have to tell me what I teach is wrong”. It may have
worked for me or for many people I coach including yourself,
but without trying it and challenging it, you won’t ever know.

Keep learning about health, keep reading, keep applying what
you’ve read and this new knowledge. Begin the process of
filtering for yourself what will and won’t work for you.
Remember this is about you, not me or the other guy, but what
will help you achieve your weight loss goals or your health.
This may very well be about applying certain fitness
principles that sound so controversy that you figure they
can’t possibly work. One of my favorite sayings is “believe
nothing I say, but I challenge you to prove me wrong”. My
intent is to have you try it.

When I first begun my journey to lose 300 pounds, I read one
book and I preached the principles like they were the gospel.
I was finally told to “shut up” and read something else, so I
took it upon myself to learn whatever I could about health and
weight loss. I began to apply my new knowledge daily, found
people who had used the info before and what they believed
about it, what worked for them for their health and then
    discovered for myself what worked.

Finally, I discovered the ultimate secret to health and weight
    loss.

    5. Never give up.

It never ends. In the large scope of your life, the next 30,
40, 50 or more years, what is a few days if you happen to get
off track. Get right back on doing what you were doing, keep
learning, keep trying new things, go back to what worked when
it was working and keep up with your daily fitness routine.
Probably the single most important fact about exercise or
fitness is that our body is designed to move and we’ve gotten
away from that. We must do something on a daily basis to
    exercise our body.

Never give up. Never lose sight of the health you want and
    keep working towards your goal.

Wireless Computer Network Rentals: The New Technology Trend

Gepost in: Hardware Infos — @ 10:18 pm

Consider the convenience and added benefits of renting today’s wireless technology.

Wireless networks have a big advantage over wired networks, especially for short term projects where the internet and rental computers, printers and projectors are deployed.

Wireless networks are easier and faster to setup than wired networks. Wireless devices add flexibility and save time. With wireless you can move your laptops, projectors and printers around and still maintain connectivity. Best of all, you don’t have to run cat5 wires to routers, computers, printers and switches.

Here are some of the wireless products that are commonly rented for company projects:

    Wireless Router Rentals

A wireless router is a networking device that connects computers to the internet. With a router you can share an internet connection between multiple computers on the network. Note: The internet cable needs to be connected directly into the wireless router.

    Rent Wireless Access Point (WAP)

A wireless access point is a networking device that allows wireless-equipped computers and other devices to communicate with a wired network. A WAP may also be used to expand the range of an existing wireless network.

    Rent Wireless Adapters

A wireless adapter is a device that adds wireless network functionality to a computer or laptop. There are three types of wireless adapters. PCI Adapters are for desktop computers. As the name suggests, they can be installed in an available PCI slot. PCMCIA Adapters, also known as PC Cards, are for notebooks. Installation is as simple as pushing the card into an available PCMCIA slot. Lastly, there are USB Adapters. These adapters are compatible with desktop and notebook computers.

    Rent Wireless Print Servers

A wireless print server connects a printer to the wireless network, allowing any computer on the network to wirelessly access the printer at any time.

    Rent Wireless Projectors

A wireless projector allows a computer user to wirelessly connect and display the computer video on a screen. All you need is a wireless adapter in your computer or notebook and the software that comes with the projector. Today’s advanced wireless projectors allow one computer to connect to multiple projectors AND multiple computers to connect to a single projector.

If you want to have a really impressive presentation, consider renting two or more wireless projectors. Bring your multimedia presentation to the next level by putting on multiple unique screens of your data and video presentation. For example: have animation on one screen and data on another!

Another benefit of wireless projectors is having the ability to have multiple presenters displaying their presentations right from their own wireless laptop or computer. Consider a corporate meeting with presentations from finance, operations, sales and marketing managers.

Wireless projectors are available from 1800 Lumen and 800×600 resolution to 3000 Lumen and 1024×768 resolution.

For more information on the current wireless projector rentals visit: Wireless Projector Rental Info

Microsoft Great Plains Project Accounting – Overview For IT Director/Controller

Gepost in: Better Software — @ 10:43 pm

Microsoft Business Solutions is now in process of creating so called Microsoft Suites: Microsoft Financials, Microsoft Logistics, Microsoft Manufacturing, Microsoft Professional Services – this last one will be based on Solomon Project module. The long story of Great Plains Software Project Accounting – it was originally created by MatchData, which was bought by Great Plains in late 1990-th and renamed into Great Plains Project Accounting. Great Plains Project accounting future is uncertain – it will not ( according to rumors in Microsoft) become the base for one of the Microsoft suites. However right now it is used by variety of businesses and has good functionality to fit general project accounting needs.

    Strong Points:

    1. It is very simple and intuitive – if you are certified accountant and know the GAAP on project accounting – you should be able to understand all the data flow and distribution in GL – Great Plains Project Accounting is following the rules.
    2. Simple budgeting and project tracking – if this is your goal – consider it, especially if you already have Great Plains implemented in your company.
    3. Microsoft SQL Server platform allows you to deploy all the industry tools, such as Crystal Reports, SQL Stored Procedures and Views
    4. Seamless integration into Great Plains interface – Great Plains Project Accounting is Dexterity-written module, so it is in Dexterity interface and security model.

    Weak Points:

    1. Poor customization possibilities – I would say that Dexterity is now a good option here, because Project Accounting is itself Dexterity third party dictionary – Dexterity is good to customize core DYNAMICS.DIC, not third parties. VBA/Modifier are available but we would not recommend them, because they are now legacy technologies.
    2. Poor integration with Microsoft Office tools – as of right now Microsoft is in process of moving all its ERP packages: Great Plains, Navision, Solomon into .Net platform. So, this is where all the efforts are applied. Microsoft Office is now the second priority
