My Visit to Australia
We just got back from Australia! Amazing country. Here are some suggestions to help you to get the most out of a visit, based on our experiences:
For the lowest priced air fare fly direct to Melbourne. We were able to save more than $175 on our flight
Try to visit in their wintertime, our summer, except if you’re only going for the surfing. You’ll save up to $100 a ticket then. This time of year it’s never too sweltering in the south, about 70 degrees, perfect heat for visiting the sights.
Make sure and take advantage of the tourist information centers, they possess all the info and recommendations for the area.
It’s hard to manage without leasing a car. It’s so simple to get around in Australia if you do. It’s the most economical way to move around, you can observe so much more and it’s easy and fast. A few examples to explain what I mean:
Car hire Melbourne (far South): $36 to $71 per day.
Car rental Gold Coast (about Brisbane, the famous surf area): $34 to $60 per day.
Car rental Darwin (far North): $42 to $60 per day.
First priority after we got off the aircraft was the Melbourne car hire office. Organizing the car hire only took about fifteen minutes and off we went. Melbourne’s a wonderful place for museums. We ought to know as we must have visited every single one of them. We also went to see the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges, about a one hour trip from Melbourne.
We flew from Melbourne to Brisbane and headed straight for the car rental Gold Coast. Departing the car hire Gold Coast we drove all over the Gold Coast. There are loads of superb seafood restaurants and the vistas is second to none.
Reluctantly we left the Gold Coast and flew to Darwin. You’re right! Directly to the car hire Darwin at the airport terminal, then to Mindil Beach Sunset Market. The breezes off the sea were welcome as it is much hotter here with temperatures reaching the 90’s. Pleased we had a car as it would have been a pain to wait for a taxi or coach in the heat.
Australia’s so large there is so much we didn’t see. It was a fantastic visit however and I’d love to return.
